Yesterday the ministry had a table at King University in Bristol, TN. Founded by Presbyterians in 1867 King University now has an enrollment through on campus and online of 2,587.
My connection was through their new President Alex Whitaker. Alex and I met probably 9 years ago when I attended a class at Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA. Alex was also there taking a class and we get to know each other during our travel to and from the campus each day. Alex would go on to earn an MA from TSU and is presently pursuing a Doctorate at Duke.
Alex, among other accomplishments, served in the Navy as a Judge Advocate General and spent 10 year’s as the Chief of Staff to the Board of Trustees at Berry College in Rome, GA.
After a call to Alex’s office his assistant asked me to send information on the ministry to the Chaplain’s office who approved our presence on campus.
So yesterday I was able to be in front of the cafeteria and able to distribute literature and speak with students about the ministry.
There are three goals of our presence at any campus and conference:
#1 inspire Christians to participate in the Great Commission.
#2 look for Christians who have a divine calling to evangelistic work.
#3 develop our reputation in broader circles.
King University is our 3rd College Campus since the fall. The other two were Samford University in Birmingham, AL and Covenant College in Chattanooga, TN. Lord willing these opportunities will continue and increase and we will see an increase in young people entering the mission field and especially young men entering the work of an evangelist.
