Homiletics: Preaching evangelistically from the Scriptures

The George Whitefield Program [GWP] is conducting a homiletics training this June 19 – 23 for members of the GWP and men, whether they are pastors, evangelists, teachers, seminary students or laymen, who simply want to learn to ‘preach evangelistically from the Scriptures’.

The goal of the teaching is that by the week’s end you will have learned to ‘draw the net’ as you preach the Word. The GWP is an evangelistic ministry intended to preach the Word for souls to hear and believe. As such this homiletics training is in accordance with the GWP’s ongoing work, is designed to enhance the church’s ability to preach evangelistically and benefit the hearer of the Word.

If this is what you want then plan to join us at Tennessee Wesleyan University in Athens, TN for five days of teaching and training.

Bill Adams – Atlanta, GA

Bill Adams was raised in the church, Baptist and Methodist, and has never in his life not known of or considered God in his life.In 1988 upon graduation from Belmont University’s Masters in Business program the Lord personally entered Bill’s life and called Bill to follow Him. That began a 27 year journey of following Jesus Christ and growing in the grace and knowledge of Him.

In 1995 the Lord called Bill to begin to go into the highways and hedges to preach the Word and in 2000 Bill became a full-time evangelist.

In the early years Bill preached at seemingly every concert, sporting event, parade and festival in Atlanta and simultaneously the Lord led him to travel to major sporting events like the Super Bowl, Final Four and Olympics to preach.

In 2007 Sports Fan Outreach [SFOI] was born as an effort to bring more Saints with him to preach at these sporting events and now through the SFOI George Whitefield program Bill is seeking men who believed they are called into full-time evangelism to join him to saturate the Western World with the Gospel.

Over the years millions of souls throughout the Western World have heard the Word through Bill’s preaching and the great delight of his life is knowing and preaching Jesus Christ crucified.

Bill is married and has four children. He is a commissioned evangelist of the Diocese of the South of the Anglican Church of North America, is a member of Church of the Apostles in Atlanta, GA and is presently enrolled in the Masters of Theology program at Union School of Theology headquartered in Oxford, England. You can read Bill’s personal theological thoughts here: BillAdams.co.

Adam Cutshaw – Manchester, TN

Adam Cutshaw is an unworthy slave of Christ and knows obedience to God’s commands is merely doing what an unworthy slave should do (Luke 17:10). Adam was raised in a Christian fundamentalist home and made multiple false professions of faith throughout his life. For several years during and after college God brought much sadness, despair and a sense of guilt that continued to cause conviction of sins and a reality of being lost. After several years of searching, God graciously revealed to Adam the truths and realities found in the Doctrines of Grace. Adam began to understand even the faith to believe in Jesus for salvation was a gift of God (Eph. 2:8). One morning while alone and under the moving of the Holy Spirit, Adam cried out to God for salvation and God graciously saved a self-righteous, unworthy sinner. Adam is married to his wife of nine years, Whitney and has a daughter Karaline (4) and a son Kalel (2). He has been a city police officer, a semi-professional football player, a body guard and diamond transporter, a federal government security contractor and is currently a Master Barber. Adam is on an “elder track” in his local church, is enrolled in Ekklesia Theological Seminary, is currently teaching through the book of Hebrews to the adult Sunday School and teaches/preaches weekly at the government housing projects in his home town. Adam and his family live in southern middle Tennessee on the banks of the Duck River. Adam desires to be used by God however God directs.

Dan Davis – Seymour, WI

Saved by the hand of God shortly after my wife was saved some 21 yrs ago now.  We have been married for 24 years and have had one daughter who’s recently married to a godly young man.  I’ve worked for Wisconsin in the highway department for about 20 years and now serve in the area of roadway maintenance.  I currently serve in our new local home fellowship “Word from the Barn” as the Life Events Deacon for the last 3yrs.   I’ve been sharing my faith through testimony and tracts for about 20 years but only 3 years of experience in open air preaching.  I’m looking forward to laboring alongside my fellow brothers and sisters in the faith in a much larger venue SBO 16 and declaring the Glorious Gospel of our LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ryan Denton –  Thoreau, NM

I’m currently the Pastor of a Baptist Church on the Navajo Indian reservation in NM. Beginning in 2017 I’ll be preaching full-time on the streets and in the prisons of El Paso, Las Cruces, and Juarez. I’m the Founder and Director of Christ in the Wild Ministries, which focuses on preaching Christ outside church walls, hence “in the wild.” www.christinthewild.com

At 22 I was saved by Jesus Christ. I’d been living with a woman out of wedlock. I was using marijuana and whiskey nightly. My cussing would’ve humbled any sailor. I spent some time in jail. Then God gave me a curiosity for the things of Him. I started to wonder about my soul. I started reading the Bible. I became convicted of sin. Within the month I moved out of my girlfriend’s house, telling her something strange was happening but I didn’t know what it was. One night I took a walk in rural New Mexico and looked at the stars and it was like I saw them for the first time in my life. The scales fell out of my eyes. The glory of God pummeled me. The reality of Christ’s death and resurrection clenched me. The Holy Spirit had sealed me. God’s presence became warmer and more tangible than any drug or woman I’d ever known. Eventually the outward sins had vanished, the boozing and the smoking and the whoring and the cussing, but I became aware of an even fiercer battle between sin and holiness that was taking place in my thoughts. This warfare continues today, as each day I labor to become more conformed to the image of Jesus Christ, and as each day my flesh attempts to resist me.

Shortly after this I graduated from UNM in Albuquerque with BA’s in Philosophy and English, then St. John’s College in Santa Fe with a Master’s degree in Philosophy. The repulsion and futility I’ve since felt towards secular academics and the world’s ambitions catapulted me into the sole pursuit of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, which I’ve done ever since, through the grace of our Lord.

Ralph Joseph – Greensboro, NC

I have been married to my incredible wife Mary Ann nearing 22 years. We have a beautiful daughter together, who is a Junior at Grove City College.

I’ve been proclaiming Christ as Lord since 1989 when a co -worker shared the glorious gospel with me. Unfortunately, I kind of kicked back, attended church and half heartedly, waited for Christ’s return. Only in the last four and a half years have I been active for my Lord and King. Today, I believe that the gospel should effect all areas of the individual’s life, into the family, into the Church, and the government, as well as arts, music, etc. Jesus Christ is Lord and King now and everywhere.

Other than enjoying life together with my wife, I’ve done  quite a bit of ministry at abortion mills, and as I’m able with individuals and teams on street corners, courthouses and colleges.

Bobby McCreery – Athens, GA

Bobby is the husband of an excellent, devoted, and prayerful wife and father of three wonderful daughters and one son. Bobby was raised in a Christian home, and around age 8 prayed a “sinner’s prayer” and was told if he meant it then he was saved and would always be saved.  He walked in darkness loving his sin for over 20 years until God granted him true repentance and faith and made him a new creation in Christ in January of 2009.  Glory to God alone!

Bobby attended Living Waters’ Ambassador’s Academy in August 2009 and is also grateful to God for the mentoring he has received from experienced evangelists around the world.  This will be his sixth Super Bowl Outreach and fourth as a team leader.  He has also had the privilege of speaking  and/or leading outreach teams at events like Jeremiah Cry’s Herald Society and East Coast Tours, The Kentucky Derby, Fall for Greenville, London’s 2012 Summer Olympics, and Wimbledon 2013 to name a few.

Bobby is the founder of To the End of the Earth ministries and left his secular job to respond to the Lord’s call to full-time evangelistic service in January 2011.

His main mission field is Athens, GA, where he preaches on the campus of the University of Georgia, in downtown Athens, at a nearby abortion clinic, and anywhere else people can be found.

He holds to the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith.

His great desire is to by the grace of God is to honor Christ by loving his wife and children first while serving, encouraging, and equipping the local church.  He also prays that God would be pleased to revive and awaken the city of Athens, GA and the University of Georgia.  Bobby also serves on the staff of Jeremiah Cry Ministries and works closely with Sports Fan Outreach International and Revival USA.  Contact Bobby via email at bobby@totheendoftheearth.org.

Jamie Terry – Hendersonville, TN

My name is Jamie Terry and I am a full-time evangelist and street preacher with Revival-USA. I live in Hendersonville Tennessee with my wife and two children. I preach full-time on the streets of Downtown Nashville, sporting events, college campuses, and anywhere else people gather. I lived as a false convert from the age of seven and was truly converted in February of 2011 as I listened to Paul Washer’s, “Shocking Youth Message”. That day I realized I was a totally depraved sinner and a false convert who was headed for hell. For the first time in my life I understood the cross and that God crushed His only Son in my place. By the grace of God I responded to the gospel in repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ. Since that day I have been consumed with Christ and His word. He gave me a new heart with new desires. I now long to see the gospel preached among the nations and to see God glorified in the name of Jesus Christ.
