About

Nick grew up in the church and spent many years trying to please God by doing good works, reading his Bible, going to church, being kind, etc. Since that never works, Nick gave up and tried going his own way from his teenage years to his early adult years. Through a set of potentially life changing circumstances, the Lord brought Nick to his knees, at which point he gave up running from the Hound of Heaven. The Lord then graciously brought Nick along a path that steadily led toward publicly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Nick was brought out of his shell when hired as a Christian school teacher. He was forced to clearly think through what he believed and how to articulate that to others. After a few years in the classroom, Nick became involved in prison ministry, which further stretched his personally set boundaries. Not long after that, he began to study personal evangelism, which led him to open-air preaching and, eventually, to SFOI.

The call on Nick’s life to public evangelism didn’t come with bells and whistles but with a slow, steady, insistent realization that this was the path down which the Lord Jesus Christ was leading him. To deny it and run would have been a return to his earlier years of trying to hide from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Nick earned his BA in History from the University of South Carolina in 1997. From 1999 to 2014, he taught history, Bible, and Physical Education at South Aiken Baptist Christian School. In 2011, he was ordained as a Deacon at First Baptist, Graniteville, Rev. Todd Sessions presiding, and was called into full-time evangelism in 2014. He and Marcy, his wife of 27 years, have five children, Ivy, 22; Cord, 16; Cade, 14; Brann, 11; and Emma, 9.
