There was 12 evangelists that gathered on Labor Day weekend from multiple states to share the gospel throughout New York City including places like the US Open (Tennis), Citi Field (Mets – baseball), Times Square, Union Park, Madison Square Garden, Staten Island, and Hoboken (NJ).

Here are some conversation stories to give you an idea of the impact that God made on not only the masses, but the individuals!

Friday Night: 

Joseph and girlfriend – They were filming the preaching so I started talking with them about one of the questions from a sign. They are atheists from Tel Aviv on vacation who were extremely secular and anti-religion. We chatted about the purpose of life and they said we should just be good people. We talked about the October 7 events and we talked about the sheer evil that took place on that day (which they appreciated I said that). In light of this, there clearly is evil and we talked about the origin of morality which they claimed was evolution. We reasoned and talked through the evidences of God for about 45 minutes. We talked about how if there was an evidence that proved there was God, they would believe in that said God but may not follow them so we reasoned that it is an authority issue rather than evidence. They talked negatively about the Bible but then they admitted they never actually read it before. They committed to at least reading part of the Bible so I gave them a gospel of John and they said thank you for the conversation so it ended in a calm manner. 

Saturday: 

Dante – Dante se acercó al letrero "¿Qué porcentaje de personas son buenas?" y dijo que probablemente era cero debido a toda la maldad del mundo. Estaba claramente frustrado y desesperanzado con el mundo. Estuve de acuerdo con él, pero le dije que SÍ hay solución y buenas noticias. Hablé del carácter de Dios y de cómo envió a Jesús con AMOR. Le pregunté quién era Jesús a Dante y me dijo: "No tengo ni idea, ¿me lo puedes decir?" (Aparte: por eso NECESITAMOS compartir el evangelio, ¡muchos no tienen ni idea de quién es Jesús!). Compartí el evangelio y empezó a llorar y dijo que nunca había oído eso. Tenía que irse porque llegaba tarde al trabajo en el Abierto de Estados Unidos, pero quería conectar más, así que le di un evangelio de Juan y una tarjeta de contacto. Oren por Dante para que sea salvo y encuentre un buen discipulado.

Edwin, un policía justo afuera del Abierto de Estados Unidos, se acercó al letrero de buena persona. Estaba con otros dos policías y estaban hablando del tema, así que me acerqué y me uní a la conversación. Los otros dos policías se apartaron un poco, así que hablé con Edwin. Repasamos todo el evangelio y me dijo que ya había oído hablar de esto antes, pero que hablaba de la desesperanza de este mundo y del trastorno de estrés postraumático (TEPT) que sufre desde hace 14 años en el Departamento de Policía de Nueva York. Me contó que la ayuda para el TEPT en la policía era mínima. Dijo que últimamente ha estado en momentos difíciles, incluyendo pensamientos suicidas, y que quería volver a la iglesia. Volví a compartir el evangelio, mi testimonio y el poder de Jesús sobre la oscuridad y nuestros pensamientos. Oré con él también y después me dijo que se sintió cambiado y que algo le había sucedido. Lo animé a que se adentrara en la Palabra de Dios, en una iglesia que cree en la Biblia, para animarlo. Oren por él y también por los policías que ven tanta maldad y demonios.

Eston – A Jehovah witness who I talked to for 30 minutes. We were just turning through scripture and we talked through Ephesians 2:8-10 and he strangely agreed that it is not by works that we are saved. I joked with him that he is a bad JW then! Anyway, we then went through the deity of Jesus, John 1 and Colossians 1 and he had some poor arguments that Jesus was not God. We then went through the verses of John 8 and he said that he never heard the connection of the burning bush “I Am” statement and Jesus claiming the same name and words. He said he would think through that so pray that God would open his mind and heart to believe. 

Martin – Muslim man from the Dominican Republic who was 40 years old and had a dream of Jesus at the age of 8 that he STILL thinks about his whole life because it shook him so much. John first shared the gospel with him and Martin was extremely open and said that he wanted to take faith more seriously now (not a fully practicing muslim). I (Kevin) then shared about some differences between the 2 faiths and he said he never realized these things. Between John and I, we probably talked to him for almost an hour and God seemed to be really opening his mind and heart – pray that he reads the gospel of John and that he gets saved and discipled!

Jerry – Vino a orar al MSG y le dije que orábamos a Jesús. Hablamos de quién es Jesús. Le pregunté si conocía a Jesús y si había nacido de nuevo, y me dijo que su familia había nacido de nuevo, pero él no, porque había pecado demasiado. Compartí el evangelio de que podemos ser salvos hasta lo último, y empezó a llorar; dijo que necesitaba ser perdonado. Oré por él para que Dios le abriera los ojos, tuviera misericordia y lo salvara. Jerry también oró, y fue una hermosa confesión de sus pecados y de su confianza en Jesús. Conocía una iglesia que creía en la Biblia a la que iría a la mañana siguiente. Creo firmemente que Dios estaba obrando algo milagroso en esta experiencia y oro para que Jerry realmente siga a Jesús y que Dios provea personas a su alrededor para discipularlo.

Rolando and Friends – Rolando was in Hoboken and just got out of jail 2 weeks ago and he was on the way to the bar. He said he got saved at a church this week and he knew he should not be going to the bar so he thanked us for being there. We shared the gospel and answered a lot of questions and 2 of the 3 guys were crying, one of them having trouble believing God could actually love him. Roy and I were talking with them for probably 20 minutes and it was sweet. We got there phone number and we will connect with them soon. 

Jack, un joven chino que se salvó hace 5 años en Georgia, pero acaba de mudarse para trabajar en las empresas de fondos de cobertura de Wall Street. Estaba en el bar solo para buscar amigos, ya que dijo que no encuentra iglesias con jóvenes adultos. Nos agradeció nuestra presencia y planeamos ayudarlo a encontrar una iglesia local.

Sunday:

Kyle – Era chef de los jugadores en el Abierto de Estados Unidos y parecía que le iba de maravilla en la vida, incluso era famoso. Había tres predicadores diferentes en el Abierto de Estados Unidos y Kyle se acercó al cartel de Propósito y dijo que el propósito era mejorar el mundo para nuestros hijos. Joe y yo hablamos de la participación de Dios en darnos propósito, y enseguida dijo: "¿Puedo confesarnos?". Compartimos cómo podemos confesarnos directamente con Jesús y compartimos brevemente el evangelio, pero dijimos que estaríamos encantados de escuchar. Nos contó que llevaba años teniendo aventuras con varias mujeres y que aún tenía esposa y un par de hijos pequeños. Estaba llorando y preguntó cómo podía cambiar y superar esto, así que volvimos a compartir el evangelio y le contamos cómo necesitaba confesarle esto también a su esposa. Habló de su enojo con Dios por el abandono de su padre y por haber sufrido acoso escolar de joven, así que hablamos del carácter de Dios y de que Él no lo causó. Tuvo que ir a cocinar para los jugadores, pero oramos por él y estaba llorando. Tomó un evangelio de Juan y una tarjeta de contacto: ¡oremos para que él tome pasos de arrepentimiento y fe en Jesús!
