Alexander Greenlee – Greenwood, DE

My name is Alexander Greenlee and I currently live with my father and younger siblings in Greenwood DE. I am almost twenty-one years old, and I am currently working full-time for a small company doing various types of sheet metal work. I am a member of Grace and Truth Community Church of Felton DE. I started attending GTCC in November of 2017, and I became a member in the summer of 2018.

I grew up primarily in Delaware, but my family and I did live in Kansas City MO for almost four years. My family was Christian, but we did not believe in the doctrines of grace. I was taught as a child that God the Father loved everyone, that He sent His Son to die for everyone, and that He had given man the ability to freely choose to be saved or to reject salvation. I made a profession of faith at a young age, and I was baptized in the local church that we attended. My theology stayed the same for many years, and I never really questioned it. My family believed it, my friends believed it, so that was good enough for me. In the summer of 2017 I graduated High school, which was very exciting, but it was also a very sad summer because my parents got divorced. I never saw it coming, but it happened. During this time, I had the desire to go to a different church. There were things that I was not comfortable with at the church my family was attending during this time. Also with the many changes going on in my life at this time I wanted a fresh start somewhere else. I asked my father if I could find a different church to go to, and he gave me his blessing.

Through some friends that I had the Lord lead me to GTCC. It was through the ministry of this local church and the illumination from the Holy Spirit that I came to embrace the doctrines of grace, and my theology radically changed. Through another young man in the church I also came to believe in the regulative principle of worship, and particular Baptist covenant theology. I currently hold to the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689. In the summer of 2019 I began to have a strong desire to open-air preach. I then sought out discipleship from another brother in the church who had experience in open-air-preaching. We spent many hours and months going through the 1689 Confession, and Thoughts for Young Men and Holiness by J.C.Ryle. With the approval and oversight of my elders I began open-air-preaching in the summer of 2020 on a weekly basis at the Ocean City MD boardwalk. I have also had several opportunities to preach at the local Planned Parenthood, and to minister to the people there. I have a strong desire to be in the ministry full-time, and I am currently being guided through a process by my elders. Right now I am very busy with renovating a house that I bought in the beginning of 2021, but when I do have time to relax I love to read books, especially by the puritans, and I also enjoy watching a good debate.
