Hello, my name is Edris Rivera. Most people call me Ed. I’m originally from Puerto Rico raised mostly in Army/Navy bases in Puerto Rico, Texas, and Panama. In college I completed a degree in Physics and went through ROTC training to become an officer in the U.S. Army. I was commissioned and sent to Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX for further training and it was there that the NAVIGATOR ministry reached out to me and I responded wholeheartedly to the Gospel (1971). My life hasn’t been the same since. To proclaim the Gospel has always been my passion. In 1973 I started flying for American Airlines as a flight attendant and just recently retired (Sep 29, 2013) after 40 years of flying all over the world. I loved my job mainly because it was a great mission’s field. Not only was I able to share the Gospel with many passengers, pilots, and flight attendants, but I was able to do open air preaching in both English and Spanish in many of the countries I have flown too. I want to thank Scott Smith for getting me hooked about 10 years ago into doing open airing at UCF (University of Central Florida) which has become my regular weekly ministry ever since we started in 2005. I’ve had the privilege of going to several SBOs and looking forward to the upcoming SBO (2016). I also want to thank Bill Adams again for his ministry and for bringing us ALL TOGETHER as one happy family of open air preachers.

“Bill’s goal with SFOI and the GWP has been to mobilize the next generation of George Whitefield’s. This goal combined with KYFITT provide a powerful remedy of faithful heralds of the King, rightly proclaiming His word and living a life fully and totally committed to prayer, study and preaching the word."
Biblical Theology plays a crucial role in preaching, as it seeks to uncover the overarching themes, concepts, and purposes of Scripture and how it points to Christ. By understanding the overarching themes and motifs in the grand narrative of the Bible, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the continuity of God's message across different books, authors, and genres.
This helps us interpret and connect various passages and themes across the entirety of the Bible, allowing us to present a holistic view of God's character, his plan of salvation, and our role in his story.
Additionally, grounding our preaching in a solid Biblical Theology foundation can help avoid theological errors and pitfalls which diminish exalting Christ and showcase a greater, deeper Gospel connection to those we preach to.
