My name is Dave Block and I live in San Diego, CA. I was married for 10 years and am a father to two sons, age 28 and 24. I was brought up with traditional Jewish values passed down from my father’s family. But I was a “Jew without a clue”believing that as long as I was a kind, compassionate, giving person, that this would be “good enough” for God to let into Heaven and be with my loved ones.
But this all changed in 2019 when I met a friend who was a believer. Through numerous conversations, I decided for the first time in my life to read the entire Bible in 2020 and through God’s grace I became a believer in the process. What I understood is that is that none of us are good to God and we cannot enter Heaven without first trusting in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ alone for our salvation.
When I knew this truth, I was anxious to share this with my family. But in utter sorrow, they didn’t want to hear anything I had to say about Jesus. My father even told me, “those are your beliefs, not mine”. He didn’t want to talk about it again. As I was preparing to expand my evangelism efforts, sadly, my father passed away. It was then that I felt a calling from God to reach out to the Jewish people and be an example for other Jews to know the truth of Yeshua HaMashiach, the Messiah that Israel has been waiting for, especially my own family.
For almost a year now, I have been with the Church of Christ preaching the gospel with another brother throughout San Diego at Padre and SDSU games, homeless outreach centers, festivals, and city streets. I become a volunteer with Chosen Peoples Ministries to become more involved with Jewish evangelism. I have also been with SFOI since September 2021, preaching at Super Bowl Outreach in LA in 2022, the NFL Draft in Vegas and the upcoming SBO in Phoenix in 2023.
