Growing up in a Baptist church as the son of a vocational minister, and the grandson of a bi-vocational pastor, his experience with the things of the Lord was one of familiarity. He did not appreciate the Christian upbringing the Lord blessed him with. Sadly, like diamond-cutters handling precious jewels all day, he took the Gospel for granted and did not treasure Christ. Thankfully, at the age of 18, the Lord irresistibly drew Clay to Himself and saved him out of his hypocrisy, making him a new creation in Christ.
Desiring to draw closer to the Lord, Clay enrolled in Bible College where the Lord made it plain that He had a calling on his life to preach and teach God’s Word. By His grace, Clay has had the joy of laboring in this capacity in His harvest field since 2000. He graduated from Boyce Bible College in 2003 and he was ordained and licensed into the Gospel ministry that same year. Clay praises God for the opportunities He has given such an unworthy servant to serve Him.
The Lord’s single greatest tool to make Clay more like Jesus has been his family. The Lord allowed him to marry Monica, his high school sweetheart in 2000. She is his best earthly friend, his strongest supporter, and his closest accountability partner. Clay married a mile above his head in personality, intellect and looks! Monica is truly a gift from God. Follow her blog at monicanicolehall.wordpress.com
Clay also praises God for his six children who always expect him to live what he preaches. He couldn’t ask for a more loving group of kids to shepherd into adulthood. If the Lord tarries, Clay’s prayer is that they each live for God’s glory in spite of their earthly father’s many shortcomings and failures.
Clay also praises God for his church family that he has pastored since 2020. Oak Grove Baptist is smaller than many churches, but Clay puts their capacity to love God and love others up against any mega-church. It was this characteristic that the Lord used to first draw him to Oak Grove Baptist in Paducah, KY. If you’ve never experienced the love of Christ through His people, do yourself a favor and join a loving, Bible-believing church!"

“Bill’s goal with SFOI and the GWP has been to mobilize the next generation of George Whitefield’s. This goal combined with KYFITT provide a powerful remedy of faithful heralds of the King, rightly proclaiming His word and living a life fully and totally committed to prayer, study and preaching the word."
Biblical Theology plays a crucial role in preaching, as it seeks to uncover the overarching themes, concepts, and purposes of Scripture and how it points to Christ. By understanding the overarching themes and motifs in the grand narrative of the Bible, we can gain a deeper appreciation for the continuity of God's message across different books, authors, and genres.
This helps us interpret and connect various passages and themes across the entirety of the Bible, allowing us to present a holistic view of God's character, his plan of salvation, and our role in his story.
Additionally, grounding our preaching in a solid Biblical Theology foundation can help avoid theological errors and pitfalls which diminish exalting Christ and showcase a greater, deeper Gospel connection to those we preach to.
